Tusla - Child and Family Agency will launch its annual National Child and Family Support Week 2019 across Louth next week.

This year's campaign will highlight the range of services Tusla provides as part of its Prevention, Partnership and Family Support(PPFS) programme.

The theme for this year's campaign is Supporting Ireland's Families with Tusla Services, and Tusla-Funded Partners, in Your Community. And there will be a special focus on family and parenting supports provided by Tusla.

Fiona Kearney, Tusla Senior PPFS manager for Louth/Meath says there is a long history of family support services for children and families within the Louth and Meath areas.

Many families receive the current services that are on offer both from Tusla, and from Tusla- funded services in the community and voluntary sector. It is important to promote - on an ongoing basis - the services and supports that are available so that all families, parents and children are aware of the range of services provided by Tusla. Families can directly contact the services at times of need so as to avail of supports that are in place in their local communities.

She added: 'To promote the services in the area, two new websites, and (coming soon) are being developed through the Children and Young People's Services Committees(CYPSC) in Louth and in Meath.

An existing online directory for Louth services is currently available at"

In the Louth area, some of the events taking place during the week include: Information stands and leaflet displays in the public libraries across the two counties. PPFS staff hosting information points across the two counties in the main shopping centres: Marshes Shopping Centre, Dundalk Monday 13th May 9.30am to 12.30pm, Drogheda Town Shopping Centre, Drogheda Wednesday 15th May 9.30am to 2.30pm.

Commenting on National Child and Family Support Week 2019, Pat Smyth Interim CEO of Tusla said: 'Tusla National Child and Family Support Week provides us with a unique opportunity to create further awareness of the range of supports that are available to families in Ireland.

'Tusla is proactively supporting Ireland's families through a range of specialist services and funded partners in communities across the country. Children and families are most likely to do well if they are provided with appropriate support in a timely fashion.'

'Our PPFS programme works with families to resolve problems at an early stage in order to improve outcomes for children, young people and families. If a child or family needs support, Tusla is there to provide assistance.'
