Three-day pop-up sale to raise funds for 'Turas'
THE fundraising drive for Dundalk centre Turas will see a three day pop-up sale take place at the Long Walk Shopping Centre beginning tomorrow (Thursday)
The sale will feature a wide range of goods including children and adult clothes, shoes, bric-a-brac, small furnishings, book and bake.
All money raised from this event will be used to support the ongoing service provision within Turas.
Turas was initially founded in Dundalk in 2005 offering counselling support and in response to the identified need for rehabilitation supports for substance mis-uers, developed an Aftercare Programme to support individuals seeking recovery.
The Aftercare Programme and Counselling Support have been funded by the North East Regional Drugs Task Force since 2006 and occasional grants from the National Lottery.
Turas provide within their premises a friendly, safe, confidential space for service users who genuinely want to engage in changing their substance misuse and to equally to concerned family members.
Turas has continued to develop the supports on offer to meet the evolving needs and now offers a range of services.
'Despite the current difficult financial climate or perhaps in part because of it the demand for the services has steadily grown,' said a spokeswoman for Turas.
However, over the years the core funding has not been exempt from the cuts in Government spending and has been reduced, necessitating Turas developing its own fundraising committee who work tirelessly to make up the funding shortfall to allow Turas to continue their vital work.
The pop up sale, which is open to the public will take place in the Long Walk Shopping Centre on 13th, 14th and 15th February
