Rural roads neglected - Breathnach
Fianna Fáil TD for Louth and Declan Breathnach called in the Dáil for more funding for third class roads as he reiterated to the Taoiseach that third class roads have been neglected for years.
'Residents along these rural roads are being treated like 'third class citizens' as repairs on these tertiary roads have been neglected for years,' said the Louth deputy.
' Some of these roads are impassable as cars and residents suffer - I want the Government to intervene on this issue by instructing Local Authorities to fund the repair of Third Class Roads rather than leaving total autonomy with the Councils as to how their funding is spent.
'People on these roads are paying their motor taxes, tractor taxes, property taxes the same as everyone else and deserve equity.'
