A beautiful evening, beautiful scenery, beautiful music, a Parish gathering, probably much the same as in penal times. However there was no necessity for watch outs this time around. That was the scenario at Ardaghy on Tuesday evening last for the annual Mass at the Pouillawee Mass Rock.

Mass was celebrated at Pouillawee in the Millennium year, 2000, for the first time since those far off penal times, and has continued on an annual basis ever since. There was a good attendance on Tuesday evening last as Fr. Brian McCreesh, Kilcurry, concelebrated Mass with Fr. Carroll and Fr. King.

The beautiful evening greatly added to the occasion, as did Fidelma Heeney as she accompanied the St. Laurence’s Choir on the accordion. The site around the Mass Rock was well-cleared and floral arrangements and decorations added a kind of festive atmosphere to the event.
