The Papal Nuncio to Ireland, Archbishop Charles John Brown, paid his first official visit to Dundalk last Tuesday, meeting with local priests, teachers, and students as well as attending a special prayer service in St Patrick's Church.

The New York born Archbishop Brown, who was appointed Papal Nuncio by Pope Benedict XVI last year, was welcomed to Dundalk by Very Rev Mark O'Hagan, Adm St Patrick's Parish, who thanked him for visiting the town.

He spoke with priests from the various parishes in the town and also met with teachers of religion from the local post-primary schools. In the afternoon, he visited Dundalk Institute of Technology where he spoke to staff and students, explaining his role in Ireland.

In the evening, he attended a evening prayer service and benediction in St Patrick's which was attended by parishioners.
