New €1 million fund for start-up enterprises
Local start up social enterprises can apply for funding through a new €1 million Small Capital Grants Scheme, announced last week by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring TD.
Louth TD Fergus O'Dowd welcomed the announcement, saying: 'The scheme, which is funded by the Dormant Accounts Fund, will provide grants of between €2,000 and €15,000 for equipment, repairs or refurbishments which will enable social enterprises to improve their service delivery and will be administered through the Local Development Companies.'
'The scheme this year will work to support disadvantaged groups such as the long-term unemployed, people with disabilities, travellers to name but a few. The scheme will also work to address societal issues such as food poverty, social housing and environmental matters.'
The scheme hopes to support over 100 social enterprises nationally.
