There were celebrations at the launch of over 100 new homes in a new development in mid Louth last week.

Louth TD, Fergus O'Dowd and the Ardee Municipal District Cathaoirleach, Cllr Dolores Minogue welcomed colleague Minister for Housing, Eoghan Murphy TD, to Ardee last week to officially open the Castleguard Manor Housing Estate in the town.

The Louth TD said: 'The Castleguard Manor Estate is a state of the art project that was undertaken by Tuath Housing Association and Louth County Council and now boosts over 100 units that have become forever homes for a significant number of applicants on Louth County Council's housing and emergency accommodation lists.'

He added that it was a very welcome development for Ardee and the mid Louth area. 'This is a milestone day for many and is representative of what can be achieved by housing association partnerships. The estate was built at a rate of 10 units per month which is extraordinary. I would like to wish all the very best to the new tenants.'

Cllr. Dolores Minogue added: 'I was delighted to officiate proceedings today in what is a significant chapter in Ardee's housing landscape. 102 wonderful new homes within walking distance of our town is a fantastic achievement and is an example of what can be achieved on greenfield sites.'
