Louth car sales up by over 12% in May

There was a more than 12% increase in the number of cars sold in Louth last month, according to the latest figures from the Society for the Irish Motoring Industry (SIMI)

In total there 119 new cars sold across Louth in May. This represented an increase of 12.26% on the 106 new cars bought in the county in the same month of 2017.

The latest sales figures are a positive indicator for the motor industry as activity in the market continues to increase. For the period January 1st to May 31st show that there have been 1,922 new cars bought in the county in the first five months of the year. This is 1.32% up on this time 12 months ago when there had been 1,897 new cars sold in Louth.

The biggest selling car make in Louth so far this year remains Nissan, followed by Toyota, Ford, Renault, Peugeot, Volkswagen, Kia, Hyundai, Skoda and Dacia.

The biggest selling model remains the Nissan Qashqai (99), followed by the Ford Focus.
