There was huge egg-citement in Louth Village and Haggardstown on Easter Sunday as Colin Hoey and Michael Mooney landed themselves a house apiece in Louth GAA's big fundraising draw for a new stadium in town.
A speedy defender in his day, Hoey was first past the post, winning his choice of houses in Blackrock or Termonfeckin, while local businessman Michael Mooney will net the other house.
'It's unbelievable, I was shaking when I heard last night,' Colin said. 'It was a great cause so I had five or six tickets bought over the year or so the draw was on, but sods law it looks like it was one of the first ones I bought that came out,' he joked.
The former St Mochta's player and manager said he will take one of the houses on offer as opposed to the €200k cash alternative, but he doesn't know which one yet.
In the meantime Michael Mooney from Haggardstown will be waiting patiently. He bought two tickets from Geraldines stalwart Padraig McDonnell and explained: 'My wife's brother is moving home to Ireland from the US after 25 years so I bought him a ticket and said to myself I may as well buy myself one - and that's the one that came out!'
