Is tree position barking mad?

The owner and tenant of a Clanbrassil Street shop were dismayed to see a tree being planted right outside their door on Monday morning, despite making representations to Louth County Council.

The tree was planted outside Trimmings as part of the multi-million Euro regeneration of Clanbrassil St, with a bike stand placed nearby.

Proprietor Jim Lally told The Argus that he had asked the Council to reconsider their plans to plant the tree so close to the door of the shop. Biddy McKevitt, who runs Trimmings, fears that the position of the tree will make it difficult for people with prams or wheelchair users to make their way along the street.
