First arrests made in connection with fatal Newry Road collision
The first arrests made in connection with the Newry Road fatal collision which claimed the life of Dundalk man Robert McLoughlin were confirmed this week.
Two people, a man and a woman, were arrested on Thursday last and questioned at Dundalk Garda station in relation to the fatal collision in the early hours of October 21, 2017. The collision resulted in the death of 29-year-old Robert McLoughlin, who was just yards from his home when he was reported to have been struck by two vehicles.
It is believed that he was attempting to cross the road to his home after getting out of a taxi when the collision occurred.
A garda spokesman said the two arrested have since been released, and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
