SHOCKING fight scenes filmed on the streets of Ardee involving a number of teenagers have been posted on YouTube inside the past week.

One of them actually takes place in a sports yard, with dozens of youths in school uniforms watching them and cheering as one youth is punched repeatedly with his shirt and jumper almost pulled over his head in the frenzied attack.

The second one is in a parkland area and involves two teenagers with one of them again the subject of sickening blows to the head, finally falling to the ground, holding his bloodied mouth.

During the filming which is made using mobile phones, one youth roars out, ' This is the drink kicking in'.

The third incident appears to happen late at night on a main street and again two youths are filmed punching each other, with a gang baying for blood.

At one stage, the tussle is so violent it sets off an alarm on a commercial premises.

The three videos appear to have been filmed by the same individual as the subscriber tagline is the same in all three instances.

In other countries, posting fight videos has landed people in jail, with any adults spotted in them liable to face charges. Assault complaints can also be made by the parents of those involved after they have seen the fights.

Ardee Garda Superintendent Ray Brennan, who has viewed the YouTube footage, said that the gardai are investigating the matter.

He said the gardai will be trying to establish the indentity of the people involved.

He added that at the time of going to press that no complaints have been made to gardai in the town.
