Fledgling DkIT students aiming for 'First Million'

NEW DkIT students are aiming high in their first weeks at college, through a new entrepreneurial programme called 'First Million!'

Business Studies students are being put through their paces this week at DkIT, as the Institute begins its exciting 2013 induction programme.

Ice breaking sessions, team games and energetic orienteering-style races are interspersed with course information workshops and campus tours.

Students are given an opportunity to meet their new lecturers, talk to 'experienced' students and make connections with new freshers.

The highlight of the week is the Business Challenge session provided by Learning Cubed, where students work in entrepreneurial teams in an effort to make their 'First Million'.

The initiative is designed to explore different team roles, draw out individuals' skills and promote a sense of shared achievement.

'It's certainly a fun way to prepare for the intensive and exciting year ahead', says Colette Henry, Head of Department of Business Studies at DkIT.

'The core entrepreneurship theme is continued into the main Bachelor of Business programme with the practical Creativity & Innovation module, which encourages student teams to develop ideas for new ventures.

Teams go on to compete in DkIT's highly successful Student Enterprise Competition, where suddenly the potential opportunity to 'make a million' becomes a little bit more realistic!

Places are still available for this programme – Bachelor of Business in Business & Management (CAO Code DK710).
