Dunleer station bid

Irish Rail is to be asked to report to Louth County Council about the prospect of re-opening the Dunleer station which closed in 1984.

Cllr Frank Godfrey put a motion before the February meeting, calling on the Minister for Transport, Pascal O'Donoghue TD, to re-open the station as a matter of urgency to facilitate the large number of commuters in the area, and that Louth County Council becomes pro-active progressing the re-opening of the station.

It was felt the infrastructure was already in place, with sufficient parking, and that the station would serve not only Louth, but parts of counties Monaghan and Meath as well.
