ON Saturday night we headed for Jimmy Reilly's Bar in Oriel Active where a surprise 30th birthday party was being held for Aidan McLoughlin from Louth Village.

There to make sure he had a fantastic night was his partner Ciara Murphy, son Sean, parents Ann and Gerry, sister Lorna from Ballybarrack, her partner Jonathan Smith from Crescent 1, their son Ryan and Ciara's mum Marie Murphy from Louth Village along with all his relations and friends.

Aidan thought he was meeting up with a few friends in the bar before heading into town and got the shock of his life when he arrived up to find everyone there waiting for him.

I wasn't too long in the door when I met up with Ciara's mum Marie Murphy who was enjoying the craic with uncle Pat and Bernadette Mackin from Knockbridge with their son Padraic, uncle Ollie and cousin Darren and Niamh Mackin from Knockbridge and son Nicky who wanted to wish Aidan all the best on his surprise night.

Heading for another table I then got talking to Nicola and Wayne Kilcoyne from Lis Na Dara who wanted to wish their cuz a happy big 30th and they were joined in this sentiment by James Callan and Patricia Maguire both from Phillip Street, Jonathan Smith from Crescent 1 and Aidan's sister Lorna, they told me it was going to be a mighty night and even mightier morning!

Also in their company was cousin Linzi McGee from Beechmount Drive with her fiancée Joe McAreavey from Castleross, Robbie Duffy from Knockbridge and Tara Smartt from Knockbridge who was with her son Adam and they all wanted to wish Aidan a helluva night.

I headed for a table where I met up with Aidan's dad Gerry who was having a great who was sitting with Aidan's uncles Wizza and Kay McGee from Beechmount Drive, Declan and Olivia McLoughlin from Doylesfort Road who assured me it was going to be a major session.

Heading for an adjacent table I got a word with David Crilly from Oldbridge who was having a laugh with Darren Doogan from Barrack Street who were joined by Robbie Duffy and they were up for a massive night of celebrations.

After this I got a word with Aidan's future brothers-in-law Anthony Myles from Knockbridge and Peter Lynch from Stabannon who were with Fergal Gernon from Lios Dubh who were having a laugh with Ciara's sisters Aoife and Siobhan Murphy from Louth Village, Aidan's sister Lorna, Ronan and Ami McEvoy from Lios Dubh and Niamh Gernon from Lios Dubh who told me it was going to be a major night for certain.

Meanwhile up near the bar I got talking to Sarah-Jane Sharkey from Annagassan who was with Barry McCaul from Dromiskin who were there for a night of fun with their friend.

Making my way over to another table I then got talking to Tracey and Natasha Quigley both from Tom Bellew Avenue and Tracey wanted to say sorry to the girls that she couldn't head off on holidays with them to Turkey!

They were enjoying the craic with Amy Smith, Maeve O'Callaghan and Joanna Smith all from Bay Estate who wanted to wish Aidan all the best on his 30th.

After this I met up with Darren Mackin from Ballybarrack who was there with Peter Tippins from Cooley Park and Brian McKeown from Willow Grove who told me it was going to be a mad one.

Finally, before I departed I met up with my old friends Mark and Aisling Duffy from Barrack Street who told me they wouldn't have missed the night for anything seeing that Aidan had been a groomsman at their wedding and wanted to wish him a happy 30th.
