Barry (11) set to debut on the Late Late Toy Show
Dundalk singer Barry Murphy (11) will make his national performing debut on the Late Late Toy Show this Friday.
Although producers are tight lipped about the talented Dundalk boy's upcoming performance, it has been confirmed he is set to join host Ryan Tubridy and a host of other young stars on the flagship RTE 1 show.
Proud mum Linda said he was 'nervous but very excited' about appearing on the famous programme.
She explained that he applied online, and was thrilled to be called for an audition a few weeks ago at RTE in Dublin.
'He had sent a clip of himself singing as part of the application, and then he was called to go up for audition.'
A member of local musical theatre company SONG, Barry already has a number of major performances under his belt, including the lead role in last year's production of Oliver.
'He has always loved singing, but has really taken to it in he last few years, and is taking singing lessons with Irene Dunne,' added Linda.
A fifth class student at the CBS primary, Barry will be the pride of his entire class and school when he takes to the Late Late stage on Friday.
'He is not allowed to say much about the performance, but we only know that he will be singing with another little girl.'
'We are going for a full rehearsal for the programme on Thursday, and then up for the live show on Friday.'
With each young performer allowed just one guest to accompany them, Linda will be cheering Barry on from backstage at the studios!
