A proud Scouting tradition set to continue

SCOUTS from St Patrick's Scout Group, 1st/2nd/5th Louth will continue their proud tradition of parading from their Scout Hall on the Castletown Road to St Patrick's Cathedral for 11.30am mass, and the annual blessing of the shamrock.

The scouts have done this every year (except the year of foot and mouth) since the early 1950s.

This year the scouts will march to the tunes of the Corduff Pipe Band who will assemble outside the scout hall at about 10.45am to play a few tunes, before the National Anthem will be played and the tricolour raised on the scouthall.

A colour party will then lead the parade through the town and up to St Patrick's where the shamrock will be blessed during 11.30am mass.

The Scout group would like to extend an invitation to everyone to come along to this special mass, and would especially like to see all former members of the unit/group there.

1st/2nd/5th Louth Scouts cater for boys between the ages of six and 21, and anyone interested in joining can phone 087-9538410 for further information.
