It might have been a very wet and miserable Christmas morning, but not even the weather could dampen the spirits of the huge group of runners and walkers taking part in the GOAL mile at DKIT.

Santa hats and suits were at the ready as the whistle went for the annual race. The event, which was in its third year, took place at 10am on Christmas morning around the grounds of DKIT, and is held to raise vital funds for GOAL's work in the developing world.

A total of €712 was raised from the event, and everyone who completed the run was presented with a GOAL certificate.

'We had a fantastic turn out considering the wet conditions, thanks to all for coming out and taking part in Dundalk DKIT GOAL MILE,' said a spokeswoman.
