Traffic diversions as part of Inner Relief closed for work

Resurfacing work got underway on a section of the Inner relief road which was closed to traffic in both directions yesterday (Monday).

Motorists faced long delays at peak times as traffic diversions were put in place along the old Newry Road, for what could be the rest of the week.

Louth County Council issued a public notice on its website and via twitter last week.

'The Inner Relief Road, Dundalk, County Louth will be closed from the roundabout, north of Dundalk Stadium ( Racecourse), to the junction with the Racecourse Road from Monday 27th November for a maximum of six days for resurfacing works.'

'Diversions will be via the Old Newry Road, for both north and southbound traffic.'

Motorists are being advised of heavy traffic congestion at morning and evening peak times, and may be suited to find an alternative route for the duration of the road closure.
