Stroll around the Stadium raised funds for Stroke
Around forty people joined the charity Stroll 4 Stroke at Dundalk Stadium recently.
This novel fund-raiser was organised to raise funds for the Dundalk and Drogheda Stroke Groups.
Group co-ordinator Seamus Casey said that they were delighted with the turnout. 'We had people from Dundalk and Drogheda and one group even travelled from Omeath after reading about it in the paper.'
The mile long sponsored walk, which took place on the road inside the horse track, has
already raised €1,800 for the organisation which provides vital support for stroke survivors in the county as well as highlighting awareness of the services available.
The event also saw participants joining stroke group members and friends in a corporate box where they were able to watch the racing as well as enjoying a meal.
Seamus said they were very grateful to Dundalk Stadium without whose co-operation the event wouldn't have been possible.
The Dundalk stroke group meets in the Redeemer Community Centre every Wednesday at 11am, where stroke survivors meet and take part in a range of activities. It caters for stroke survivors from Dundalk and surrounding areas.
The group are also travelling to Roscommon for a four day respite break later this month.
