RTE shout out for singer Tara

Ravensdale soprano Tara Erraught has been listed by RTE as one of 25 people defining Irish culture at the moment.

Tara, who is currently appearing in Haydn's 'Orlando Paladino' at the Bayerische Staatsoper' in Munich said 'It is an honour to represent Ireland, and anywho who has ever met me will know that I am so proud to be Irish.'

'We have an unbelievable wealth of talent and cultural heritage from our wonderful country, and we are so lucky to have an amazing team of Irish Ambassadors around the world who have always welcomed be with open arms and offered tremendous support with every project.'

She noted the list included 'some of the most incredible artists' such as Saoirse Ronan, Aishling Pea, Ruth Negga, Sharon organ, and her favourite writing duo ever; Emery McLysagh and Sarah Breen of 'Oh My God What A Complete Ashling' (OMGWACA) fame.

In a feature published on thier website this week, RTE noted that Tara had once worked as a 'usherette at Dublin's National Concert hall ...has sung at prestigious venues and festivals the world over, from Glydebourne to the Met; it's safe to say she's one of Ireland's bona fide opera stars.'

The film director Aoife McArdle, whose parents hail from Co Louth, was also included in the list, which noted that her feature debut 'Kissing Candice' is currently impressing at the box office and that she has made music videos for U2.
