Remembering Ciaran

Preparations are well underway for a weekend of sport in memory of the late Ciaran Casey which are being hosted by Bellurgan United over the June Bank Holiday weekend.

The former Bellurgan captain, who helped the club to the AUL Nivea Cup in 2007, passed away at the age of 37 in 2015 and the club have, once again, organised a charity weekend in his honour with all of the proceeds going to local charities including the Maria Goretti Foundation in Lordship.

Ciaran was a talented footballer who played his last match with Bellurgan United on Sunday, January 18 2015, before passing away unexpectedly at Beaumont Hospital the following Friday. The father of one died of Acute Leukaemia which had not been diagnosed previously. Ciaran was a passionate footballer, who started a long career playing schoolboys football with Muirhevna Mor, Bay United, Shamrocks, and Dundalk Schoolboys. He joined Bellurgan United in 2000 and continued to line out for the club on a regular basis, playing in the Meath and District League.

His family, including wife Ciara, their daughter Sarah, parents Tom and Briege, brothers

Aidan, Stephen and Seán, sisters in-law Fiona and Vanessa, parents-in-law Kevin and Miriam Morgan, fully support the club's fund raising efforts for charity in Ciaran's memory.

Bellurgan United were privileged to have had Ciaran in the in the club and he is still very much missed.
