The pre-Christmas busk at Earl Street featuring a host of local musicians and singers raised an impressive €2,200 for the Dundalk Simon Community.

The Buskaton was the brain child of local musician Joey Edwards who plays with We, The Oceanographers, who got together with several others involved in the independent music scene to host the fund raising event.

From lunchtime on Friday December 22, shoppers were entertained by buskers including local bands

Nix Moon, TPM, Jinx Lennon, The Periods Third Smoke, L-arry, We, the Oceanographers, David Bellew Music, Just Mustard, Sophie Lennon, The Mary Wallopers, Elephant, Finnian,,The Dandelion Few, Take the Money and Run, Danny Meegan Music, Tommy McGovern and others.

Meanwhile, Dundalk singer/songwriter David Keenan joined the legendary Grafton Street Busk in Dublin on Christmas Eve. This year's event was moved a short distance to a stage outside the Gaiety Theatre on South Kings Street and the line-up included Glen Hansard, Hozier, Danny O'Reilly from The Coronas in the now annual event.
