Nominate someone for PPN Awards
The Secretariat of the Louth Public Participation Network continues to recognise and honour the outstanding achievements and contributions made by individuals and organisations in County Louth in the Community and Voluntary Sector.
The Awards brings together individuals and organisations to celebrate their amazing contributions made over the last year and acknowledge this through an evening of celebration.
The Awards are open to nominations in the following categories Arts & Culture; Environment/Animals; Children & Youth; Older Persons and Disability; Ethnic Minorities; Sports; Voluntary Team of the Year; and Outstanding Individual Achievement.
In attendance at the launch of the 2018 Awards was Benny Grogan, the 2017 Award recipient in the Older Persons/Disability Category.
Benny is a member of Louth W.A.T.C.H. Club (Walking and Tandem Cycling for Health) for the blind and visually impaired. The club was established to support social inclusion and interaction, and to reduce the isolation of blindness by self help and independence.
The club promotes activity through walking and cycling most weekends in Louth, throughout the north east and beyond. They achieve this by recruiting and training sighted volunteers with the relevant skills required. Following from Benny's award win at the 2017 Louth PPN Awards, he went on to win the National Volunteer Ireland Award 2017 in the area of Sport/Recreation. He was also shortlisted in the 2017 Charity Impact Awards.
