Jacqueline was a loving and devoted mother

Obituary - Jacqueline (Jackie) McKenna (1967-2018)

Jacqueline (Jackie) McKenna, who passed away suddenly at her residence, Crescent 2, Muirhevnamor, Dundalk on Saturday, 28 April, 2018, was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She also had a great sense of humour and was caring and thoughtful, always putting others before herself.

Jackie appreciated the simple things in life and took great pride in her appearance. She always kept her handbag close by in case the opportunity of a spin out arose and loved going to Newry to get her hair done.

Jackie looked forward to watching the Soaps on television every evening and was a regular reader of Stephen King books. She also enjoyed music. Formerly from Lucknow Street in Belfast, she moved to Dundalk in her late teens, residing here, and became a devoted mother to her only son Tony.

Indeed, her life changed when she became a mother and Tony was her whole world. She loved taking him to different places throughout his childhood and especially loved when able to get over to Galway for a few days away. Jackie was predeceased by her Dad, John McKenna; and sister, Bairbre Lyons.

She will be sadly missed by her son, Tony; grandchildren, Nathan and Caiden; partner, Jim; mother, Theresa; brothers, Peter, David and Kevin; sister, Collette and extended family and friends. The family would like to thank everyone in Doolargy Avenue for their help and kindness over the days Jackie’s wake took place there. Her Month’s Mind Mass was held on 27 May in the Holy Family Church, Muirhevnamor.
