There were huge celebrations at Gaelscoil Dhun Dealgan last week when the school were awarded their Green Flag for the sixth year in a row.

Pupils and staff were delighted to be raising the Green Flag for the sixth time, after they succeeded in maintaining their green school status.

Green Schools is the leading environmental management and award programme, working with primary and secondary schools across the country. It is a school led programme, which encourages young children and teenagers to consider their environment during their daily lives.

Along with issues such as waste management, recycling etc, the programme also invites children to become involved developing and implementing sustainable environment initiatives. The programme also benefits the wider community in encouraging a greater participation in protecting the environment.
