Good wishes for CU staff

Colleagues and members of the local BHK branch of the Credit Union were saddened but joined together to extend their very best wishes to two of the long serving senior staff members who have departed from their roles in the local office.

Deirdre Crawford (nee Kilkenny) was the branch CEO and Mairead Preston (nee Rogers) the assistant manager before bidding their farewells.

Deirdre gave a quarter of a century service to the branch, and Mairead was employed for 17 years.

Both were held in the highest regard by staff and members alike, known for their friendly and very helpful engagement in serving members.

The branch has undergone substantial change having in December last ratified a merger with Kilsaran incorporating Annagassan and Clogherhead branches and is now trading under the umbrella of Connect Credit Union.

Festivals

Will any of the village's remaining festive occasions survive the COVID-19? With the Raft Race gone, will the Traditional Fifteenth festival take place in August?

Or will the lifting of restrictions allow the village 'Film Festival' to go ahead before the summer ends.

The Pumpkin Festival looks to have a better chance at the end of October of proceeding.

But all is very much in the lap of the Gods, and please God they will work a little miracle to brighten the lives of those in the community and others who join in and gain much enjoyment from the different events organised and run by the local Tourism and Development Group.
