Louth

Promotion push

Thanks to a tremendous second half display St Mochtas overcame a strong Clan na Gael side to keep their hopes very much alive to qualify for promotion to the senior all county league next season. The final score was St. Mochtas 1-26 to 4-5 for the Clans. They now play the Gaels in the final and although at the time of writing this no date has being fixed we believe it could be this coming week end at a venue to also to be decided. We wish the team and the management all the best but no matter what happens they all have to be congratulated on a successful season.

Also next Saturday week will see the replay of the All Ireland football final and this coincides with St Mochtas fund raising draw which will be held that night and tickets are currently on sale price €20. There are great prizes to be won and the club would appreciate your support as all funds raised are going to the development of the juvenile field.

First Friday

As this coming Friday is the first Friday there will be Mass at 9.30am. Every Wednesday at 9.30am followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until 7.45pm and then followed with The Rosary for petitions.

Stop dumping!

We have been asked by a good number of residents to ask people to stop dumping rubbish on the roads. At the moment the problem is very bad. It is happening on every road especially around the Mills of Louth. It is not fair on the residents or on the local people who are doing a Trojan job keeping the whole area clean and tidy. Also the good work that is taking place at the old Grave yard in St. Marys Abbey is much appreciated and is a credit to those who are taking part and again we would appeal to all to respect this consecrated place and respect the improvements taking place.

Shelagh

Youth Club

Shelagh youth club was delighted to be able to run day trips and summer camp over the last 2 weeks for their members, family and friends. A great day was had by almost 70 people on a trip to Fort Lucan in Dublin for a fun filled day in the outdoor adventure playground and the sun was shining on them throughout. The children really enjoyed the water slides, play areas, zip lines and most importantly being with their friends during the summer holidays.

Our over 12s group had a tour of Butlers Chocolate Factory in Clonshaugh Dublin on Wednesday last where they got to see first-hand how the delicious Irish chocolate is made and got a chance to decorate their own chocolate figure! They then went onto the Pavilion Shopping Centre in Swords for some lunch and shopping. Everyone enjoyed the day out and it was a day with a difference in the summer holidays. Thank you to Moley's coaches and their drivers for their professional bus service!

The Club was delighted to have Sarah Reel last week in the club to run a dance camp for the week. All the children have certainly excelled and learned some pretty fantastic moves throughout the week.

The committee are working on activities for the autumn/winter season and are looking for a drama teacher/facilatator. If you know anyone or are interested yourself in running an activity in the club please contact any committee member or message us on our facebook page: Shelagh Youth Club

Enjoy the rest of the summer Holidays!
