Community news: Cooley

The Ladies Gaelic Football Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Lyn Savage as National Development Manager.

The LGFA is ideally placed to continue its recent rate of growth and expansion, and Lyn is ideally suited to the role that she will now occupy.

Lyn will help to oversee the implementation of the LGFA's new Strategic Plan, which will be launched shortly.

She has been working with the LGFA for ten years, and is a former GPO with the Dublin county board.

A graduate of Ulster University, Jordanstown, Lyn was an inter-county player with Louth for 15 years, and she hails from the Cooley Kickhams club.

Lyn is a qualified Coaching Ireland tutor, delivering LGFA Coach and referee Education.

Lyn, who was previously a National Development Officer with the LGFA, is also hugely involved in the Climb4Clare campaign and the associated CLIMB programme.

We wish Lyn every success in her new role and we are very much looking forward to exciting times ahead for the Association.

Double Christmas Draw

Lily Finnegans in Whitestown had a unique Christmas draw this year when they doubled up by having a similar draw on the two Friday nights prior to Christmas.

The top prize of €500 in the first draw was won by Ciaran Gormley while the remaining prizes went to Adrian Sheelan, Stephen Dolan, Saoirse Murphy, Miceal O'Neill, Ann-Marie Long, Lisa Murphy, Aaron White, Fintan Murtagh, and Luke Clarke.

The €500 in the second draw went to Miceal O'Neill. The other prizes went to Claire Muckian, Sean Marks, Fintan Murtagh, Lisa Murphy, Bernard Quinn, Ciaran Rogan, Kiera Long, Kieran Long and Mary Kirk.

Cuchulainn Gaels Lotto

The Cuchulainn Gaels weekly lotto draw took place on Wednesday night last, December 20. The numbers drawn were 2, 14, 17 and 28.

There were no jackpot winners but I. O'Neill and L. Murphy, and J. Short matched three numbers to share the second prize. There were 5 Winners of €100 each in the special Christmas draw. They were; S.Grace, Joe O'Hagan, F. Elmore, P. & M . McGaughey and Cathal O Reilly.

This next draw has a jackpot €20,000. The new reserve Jackpot is €11,100. Thank you for your continued support. The Cuchulainn Gaels Club would also like to wish everyone a very happy New Year!

Sew Fashion' in Dolmen Centre

After school fashion design workshops for ages 8 - 14 years are now enrolling for January 2018.

Sets and Social dancing

Robert and Ann Brown, Omeath who are raising funds for the hospital in thanks for the recovery of their son Daniel would like to wish all those who have contributed in any way to their campaign a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. We would like to invite you to our next event, a night of Sets and Social Dancing on the 6th January 2018 in the GAA club in Castlebellingham.

Now make note in your diaries the final night of our campaign takes place on the 2nd February 2018 in the Four Seasons, Carlingford. This will most definitely be the 'Event of the Year' with music provided by Henry Mac and the Four Nooks and a number of Special Guests on the night.

Carlingford/Omeath Lotto Draw

The Carlingford/Omeath parish lotto draw took place on Tuesday night, December 19.

There was a jackpot of €15,000 on offer but no one matched all the numbers drawn to claim that prize. The numbers drawn were 2, 8, 10 and 19. There were four 'match 3' winners; H. Callan, C. Harper, P. Donnelly, Carlingford, and J. Connolly, Omeath.

The jackpot for the next draw which takes place on Tuesday January 9 is €15,000 and the reserve jackpot is €9,000.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

The Carlingford Players present Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in The Foy Centre, Carlingford, in the coming week. The Panto starts at 7.30pm sharp on this Thursday 4th, Friday 5th and Saturday 6th January. Tickets are on sale at Dan's cafe, Molly Mays, The Orchard Bakery and The Foy Centre.

Cooley Kickhams GAA Club news

The Cooley Kickhams Club would like to wish all their members, players and supporters a happy and prosperous 2018.

A top class ball stop system was recently completed by Curran Contracts in front of the new playground. Measuring 60m wide x 15m high they will give great coverage.

Many thanks to Councillor Antóin Watters and Michael Owen & Marie McGrath for their generous donations to the Playground Committee towards the costs. Some further fundraising will be required in the new year to fully complete the playground project which will be free to use for all the community.

Great turnout at Bush GOAL Mile

The annual GOAL Mile took place at Bush Track, the home of Glenmore Athletic club, on St. Stephen's morning, Tuesday 26th December.

The event attracted a large happy crowd to the Bush venue, young and old, who ran, jogged, or walked their way around the track. Almost €1000 was raised towards the GOAL fund and the Glenmore club would like to thank each and every one who attended and contributed to a very worthwhile fundraiser.

The club would like to wish their members and friends a very happy and healthy 2018!

Operation Bush4mation

Operation Bush4mation begins on Monday next, January 8, 2018, and is spread over four weeks.

There is a very exciting line up of courses with Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, Food Demonstrations, New Bootcamp and strength and conditioning. The program costs €50. Please support this fantastic fundraiser and spread the word among family & friends.
