Emmets GFC

The junior team beat Young Irelands 3-16 to 2-8. Scorers: Ciaran Bellew, Ultan McEneaney 1-2 each, Darren Geoghegan 0-4, Sean McCaughey 1-1, James Bellew 0-3, Ewan McEnteggart 0-2, Stephen Kneel and Micheal McGeown 0-1 each. They play this Tuesday, June 4, away to Plunkets at 8.00pm and this Sunday, June 9, at home to Kevins at 12 noon. Good luck to mentor Paul Litchfield along with Adam Shields and Cathal Bellew against Meath this Wednesday in Navan in the Leinster Junior football championship. No luck for Ciaran McGlynn playing for the county U20 team that lost to Cavan and Antrim last week. The minors play on June 24, away to Clans at 7.30pm. Kilkerley Naomh Malachi U16 boys play this Friday away to St Brides at 7.30pm. The U14 boys won at home to Kevins Lannleire. The U12 Boys play on June 14 at home at 7.00pm to O'Connells/Stabannon/Mitchels having had a good away win over St Fechins with great all round effort and worked very well as a team. They also played in the inaugural Clans Fun Day tournament on Saturday morning. They played against the Pats and the SeanOMahonys, winning one and narrowly losing the other in the group format. They then contested the shield final against the Clans, played very well, to win the trophy.

The Ladies team beat St Marys 5-18 to 2-7. The U16 girls finished level 4-9 to 2-15 away to Stabannon. The U14 girls play away to Geraldines on Monday next at 7.30pm and the following Monday are at home to Hunterstown at 7.30pm. The U12 girls beat Blues 1-9 to 0-1 and play at home to O'Raghallaighs Plunkets on Thursday of next week at 7.30pm and the following week away to Glyde Westerns at 7.30pm. They performed well in the Clans Fun Day Tournament in games with Cooley, Colmcilles and Clans. Sympathy to family and relatives of former player Patsy Casey who died in England also to the Hand, Conroy and Mulligan families and relatives on the death of Peter Kelly, Donaghmoyne.

Dancing

Congratulations to all the boys and girls of Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal who received their First Holy Communion in Kilkerley recently. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place each Friday from 6.30p.m.-7.30p.m. Please pray for Peter Kelly, Donaghmoyne, Patsy Casey, formerly Hackballscross who died in England, Paul Lynch, Dundalk, who died recently. Baptisms take place every second Sunday of the month at 10.00am mass. Confession will take place after 6.00p.m Mass on Saturdays and before Mass on First Fridays. Best wishes to parishioners who are hospitalised or unwell at home presently. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place in the Church each Friday evening from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. Family Fun Day takes place for Kilkerley Knockbridge Parish in Kilkerley Community Centre beginning with mass at 11.00am on Sunday, September 1, followed by food, bouncy castles, face painting and sports activity. Family tree healing mass is on Monday next June 10, preceded by confessions and rosary. Freedom in Christ Deliverance Ministry takes place in the church this Saturday, June 8, from 2-6.00pm. The PART meeting takes place on Monday, June 24, at 8..pm in the Parochial House. Fr Gerry and Deacon Martin will so the house calls as usual this Thursday instead of this Friday. The Do This in Memory Team meet on Tuesday, June 11, in Knockbridge Parochial House at 8.00pm to prepare for the last mass of the year which takes place on the Feast of Corpus Christie, June 23.

Baptisms take place every fourth Sunday of the month at 11.30am mass. Please pray for Seamie Kavanagh, Rossmakea, Benny Duffy, late of Castlering who died in New York, Anne Casey (née Conroy), Haynestown and formerly of Carrickmullan, who died recently. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on Mondays from 10.00am to 10.00pm in the Church followed by Benediction at 10.00p.m. Confessions are available on Mondays before 7.30 Mass and from 9.30pm-10.00pm, at the end of Eucharist Adoration, and at any time by request. Can you please volunteer one or two hours of your time to help tidy the graveyard? As the numbers of volunteers have dropped rapidly, we are encouraging everyone to look after their own family grave including the surrounds (strimming, washing headstones, taking home old flowers). Meeting

Last week a very important meeting took place in the newly refurbished Community Hub. At this well attended meeting Barry Eaton from Louth County Council met with several members from the community representing the different clubs and organisations as well as individuals and he explained that Louth village had being nominated by the council for Pride Of Place competition in the 2019 in the relevant population category. This Pride of Place initiative is an opportunity to showcase the village and for the local community with all the organisations and clubs to come together to celebrate our village In a follow up from that meeting you are cordially invited to the next meeting which will take place this coming Thursday at 9pm in the community Hub.

At this meeting a committee will be formed representing everyone in the village and it is hoped an open discussions will influence the creation of an outline proposal plan that will direct how we showcase the village

The judging panel will visit the village in the middle of July at a date still to be advised to judge the various the different headings Community Participation and Impact on Community and area. Please go along and support this wonderful initiative.

Poker Classic

A poker classic will be held in the community Hub this coming Friday in aid of the Youth Club. Price will be €20. And it will commence at 8.30pm. Refreshments served. You can phone either 0864093329 or 0876562906 for more information on this event or for information about the youth club.

50/50 draw

Last weeks winners of St. Mochtas 50/50 draw was Alex Mc Govern and ALexs winnings were €312. Winner of the €20 prize was Grace Mc Govern. Tickets can be had at all local business are from any committee member.

Knock trip

The Louth and Stonetown Legion Of Mary are having a pilgrimage to Knock on Sunday 30th June. Details and booking can be made with Patsy Finnegan or any member of the Legion.

Date for your diary

Don't forget a date for your diary on July Sunday 9th to honour the 350th anniversary of the appointment of St. Oliver Plunket as Archbishop Of Armagh and in preparation for the unveiling of a new statue of St. Oliver in St Patricks Armagh a walk which will commence in Drogheda on that day and travel To Armagh. On the way they will call to St. Olivers shrine in Ardpatrick where Mass will be celebrated at 7.30pm. We will have more information nearer the time.

Underage training for under 6 to under 12s continues this Tuesday @ 7pm in the Naomh Malachi pitch and will continue every Tuesday evening at 7pm.

Whist Lessons

The Whist card game is taking a break for the summer and will resume again in September.

Walking Group

A walking group has commenced in Naomh Malachi's grounds every Thursday evening at 7pm. Open to all ages & abilities - Runners are most welcome too. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
