St Vincent de Paul: St Brigid's Conference are making an appeal to the wider community for their help this Christmas.

Most of us preparing for Christmas is a matter of deciding what to buy and for whom: but for those struggling to survive on tiny inadequate amounts of money, these people, our neighbours, family, parishioners, already not able to heat their houses, or deciding what time of day to eat their only food, it is unthinkable how hard it would be, in this situation, to try to make a loved one smile on Christmas morning, to try to make Christmas a memorable one for the children.

These people carry such a burden, struggling so quietly in the background that those of us lucky enough to be able to save for Christmas are unable to understand.

While all donations are always greatly appreciated, this Christmas we are focussing as much as possible on financial contributions from people, as we can then tailor to the individual needs of each person/family who seek help at this stressful time of year.

Please dig deep now, make an extra effort early before Christmas so the volunteers can get the help where it is needed in time. Remember 100% of every penny and every item collected will be given to the needy in this parish.

The Christmas collection will take place after Communion on Sat 1st and Sun 2nd December. Contact St Vincent de Paul Society on 087 2520382.
