Parish News

Viewing of the new Parochial House takes place this Sunday from 2.00pm to 6.00pm. Calls to the Sick or Housebound will take place this Friday, January 3, at usual times. To mark the Baptism of the Lord children who were baptised in 2019, and their families are invited to 10.00am mass for a special blessing. Refreshments afterwards in the Community Centre. Remember in your prayers, Mary Conroy, Willow Grove, Patricia Hayden, Clondalkin, formerly Clarke, Rathmore, Daragh McNally, Medabawn, Dundalk, John Thornton, Forkill, Billy Edwards, Antrim. Baptisms take place every second Sunday of the month at 10.00am mass. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place in the Church each Friday evening from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. Best wishes to parishioners who are hospitalised or unwell at home presently. Confirmation for 2020, takes place on Friday, February 28, First Holy Communion for 2020, will take place on May 23. New readers and Ministers of the Eucharist are needed. Please give your name in to the Parish Office. Next family tree healing mass is on Monday, January 13, 8.00pm. Our Lady Queen of Peace Prayer Group meet on Thursday, January 16, at 7.30pm in Knockbridge Parochial House. Do this in Memory Mass supporting children preparing for first holy communion takes place on Sunday, January 26.

Fr. Gene Kirk

Kilkerley native Fr. Gene Kirk from Derryfalone has been a missionary priest in Peru for the past 57 years. Now 85 years of age he is hoping to fulfil one last project for the people he serves in Villa El Salvador, Lima. This project will advance education for the most deprived children in the area. The educational cost per child per year is approx. €520. So far through the help of people in Ireland, Fr. Gene and his team have established a church, health centres, schools and a bakery. Lourdes Committee

The Armagh Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place from May 7 to May 12, 2020. We are now taking bookings for Assisted Pilgrims, Pilgrims and Youth Workers. The following dates are very important for those intending to travel on the pilgrimage. Deposits have to be in by February 20, and final payments have to be in by March 26. We have no control over those dates as they are set out by Armagh and unfortunately we must strictly adhere to them. Should you require any further information about the pilgrimage please contact Fr. Sick calls will take place this Thursday, January 2, at then usual times. Mass of the Epiphany is Monday, January 6, at 7.30pm at which there will be a collection for the education of students for the Priesthood. Baptisms take place every fourth Sunday of the month at 11.30am mass. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on Mondays from 10.00am to 10.00pm in the Church followed by Benediction at 10.00p.m. Confessions are available on Mondays before 7.30 Mass and from 9.30pm-10.00pm, at the end of Eucharist Adoration, and at any time by request. A team of volunteers have agreed to act as interim sacristan until a permanent sacristan is appointed in the new year. New readers and Ministers of the Eucharist are needed. Louth

Churches Packed

Both Churches were packed for all ceremonies over the Christmas period and we would like to thank the stewards at both Stonetown and Louth who organised the traffic and seating. There will be a New Years day in Louth this coming Wednesday 1st January at 9.30am. Please note there will be no Exposition on that day.

Zero to hero

There is a very interesting event taking place in the community Hub Louth commencing on Saturday 11th January. This will be called zero to hero safe a life. It means you can kick start 2020 with this health information event. Healthy Ireland are giving gift bags to the first 40 entrants to the event and refreshments on the day. Entry ticket will cost you €10 and you will get information on how to manage your diet your health. The Irish Heart foundation will do blood pressure checks and you can learn how to check your own pulse advice on lifestyle. All proceeds going to Louth Village community Hub. There are many more tips available on the day. All are welcome.

Parish party

This years Parish/retired persons party will be held in the Community Hub Louth on Sunday 19th January. Anyone needing transport can contact any of the organisers. We know a lot of people look forward to the day.

Confirmation date

Confirmation will be held in the Parish for both schools on Friday May 1st in The Church Of The Immaculate Conception Louth at 11am.

First Holy Communion

First Communion will be on Sunday 17th May for pupils of Stonetown school 11.30am Mass and on Saturday 23rd May at 11am Mass for pupils of Louth School.
