Gaels lotto: The Cuchulainn Gaels lotto draw took place last week on Wednesday August 21 for a jackpot of €19,600.

The numbers drawn were 11, 19, 21 and 26 but no matched those numbers to claim the top prize. There was one 'match three' winner, Paul McCann, who on the €100 prize.

This week's draw takes place in Howe's Bar for a new jackpot of €19,700. It commences at 7pm and tickets are on sale in the following shops/businesses: Cafe Rosa, Cornamucklagh House, Granvue, Howe's, Mace Omeath, Omeath Post Office and Omeath Fuels (TOP). €2 per line or €5 for 3 lines. Congratulations to Gaels U10s

Well done to Cuchulainn U10's who participated in a Blitz last week hosted by the Clans.

First up was the Clans themselves and we started with a win with some great defence work and some top scores.

next was Cooley which was a really hard fought game and a great win over our local rivals. The last game was against St. Josephs and unfortunately we ran out of steam and just got beat by a better and stronger team on the night, but however congratulations to our under 10's on a fantastic night of football.

All Ireland ticket draw

Cooley Kickhams have organised a draw for two Ireland tickets for the much looked forward to match between Kerry and Dublin which takes place on Sunday next.

Tickets are €5 each or three for €10. The prize also includes €200 spending money. Tickets are available from any committee member or senior footballer.

Pat's Jackpot reaches €5,600

The St. Patrick's lotto draw took place at the complex at Lordship on Thursday night last, 22nd August.

The jackpot on offer was €5,400 but no one matched all the numbers to claim that prize. The numbers were 1, 4, 21 and 31. There was one 'match three' winner, Sean Clithero, Dundalk, c/o Roland Caldwell.

This week's draw is on Thursday August 29 for a jackpot of €5,600.

Well done St Pat's U8 girls

Well done to the St. Patrick's under 8 Girls this morning on reaching the quarter-finals of the cup in Dromintee. They won three of their four group games but fell short against a very tough Savilis side in the quarter-final. Great efforts by all on a very hot day against teams that were typically 6-12 months older. Doing themselves and their club proud.

St Pat's reach League U14 Final

Congratulations to the St. Patrick's under 14 girls who are through to the League final after a thrilling encounter against Cooley in their semi final match at McEvoy Park. They led at half time by 4-2 to 1-3 and went on to qualify on a scoreline of 6-4 to 2-7.

Induction of new Parish Priest

Fr Brian White will be inducted as Parish Priest of Carlingford and Omeath by Rt. Rev. Michael Router, Auxiliary Bishop of Armagh, on this coming Saturday August 31. The ceremony will take place during the Saturday evening Mass at 7.30pm in St. Michael's Church, Carlingford.

Fr White is presently curate at Blackrock/Haggardstown and will replace Fr. Brian MacRaois who is retiring as Parish Priest in Carlingford/Omeath. Fr. Brian is heading for Kilkerley where he will take up a new position as Paster Emeritus and curate.

The Parish Pastoral Council invites you all to The Foy Centre after Mass for a cup of tea. It will be a great chance for us all to meet our new Parish Priest, Fr. Brian White.

Grandparents Pilgrimage to Knock

The Annual National Grandparents Association Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine is on Sunday September 8 commencing at 2.30pm.

Everybody is welcome to come along and honour and thank Grandparents alive and dead for all they have done for us down through the ages. The chief celebrant is Bishop Kevin Doran, Bishop of Elphin, and the music will be provided by the combined choirs of Knock Parish led by Dana.

Willville family open day

O'Neill's Flowers of Willville have organised their annual Family Open day and Craft Fair for Saturday September 7. The event opens at 9.30am until 4.30pm and everyone is welcome. There will be further details nearer the date.

Parish schools re-opening

All the schools in Carlingford/Omeath Parish will re-open this week.

The schools, St. Oliver's N.S., Scoil Naomh Lorcán and Scoil Naomh Bríd re-open for pupils on this coming Thursday August 29.

Omeath and District Active Retirement group will have their first meeting back after the summer break on Wednesday September 4.

It gets underway at 3pm in the Dolmen Centre, Omeath. New members are always welcome.

Carlingford/Omeath Parish Lotto results

The Carlingford/Omeath parish lotto draw took place on Tuesday night last, August 20.

The numbers drawn were 10, 14, 25 and 26 but there was no jackpot winner. There was one 'match three' winner, M. O'Reilly, Carlingford, who claimed the €150 prize.

The jackpot for this week's draw which takes place in Carlingford on Tuesday 27th is €15,000. The new reserve jackpot is €7,800.

Trip to Leeds from Peninsula

A long weekend trip to Leeds from the Cooley Peninsula and general North Louth area has been organised for the last weekend in August.

The travelling group will leave the area on Friday August 30 and return on Monday September 2. The venue is the Britannia Leeds North Hotel and the cost is €270 sharing. This includes 3 nights bed, breakfast and dinner. While there the itinerary includes a visit to and tour of Emmerdale farm.

Youth club training evenings

There will be two training evenings in Child Protection and Welfare for all volunteers and parents on Friday September 6 and Friday September 13 from 8pm until 10pm. Registration of youths by the parents will take place on both nights. For further information please contact 087-9512101.

Social Dancing break to Killarney

A social dancing break has been organised from the Cooley Peninsula and general North Louth area to Killarney.

The travelling group will stay in the Gleneagles hotel, Killarney, and the price for the duration is €360 per person sharing or €432 for a single room. This is for four nights bed and breakfast, evening meals and coach travel.

The group will spend four days in the town with entertainment on each night. On Monday night, October 14, the dancing will be to the Unity Band. On Tuesday night, October 15, the entertainment will be provided by Peter Burke, on Wednesday night, October 16, by Checkers, and on the Thursday night, October 17, by Michael Collins.

Cooley Juniors advance

Cooley Kickhams won their second match in the junior championship when they defeated Gaels by 4-10 to 0-2 at Fr. McEvoy park. At half time the peninsula side were leading 2-8 to 0-0.

The Cooley Kickhams Lotto draw took place on Monday night last, August 19.

Cooley Kickhams lost against St Josephs by 3-12 to 4-6 in the first round of the minor championship. At half time it was 3-5 to 2-3 to 3-05 in favour for the Dromiskin side.

Bush Class of 1979 Reunion

It is forty years since the Leaving Certificate was first taken at Bush Post Primary in June 1979 when Vincent Kieran was Principal. To mark this momentous occasion there will be a reunion for past students and teachers who started in Bush in September 1974 and who completed part of or the whole journey to June 1979.

The reunion will be in the Sailing Club in Carlingford on Friday September 6 at 8.30pm. The cost of meal is €20 with deposit of €10 to be paid to book your place.
