Aoife and Aaron's triathlon triumph

THE transition year triathlon saw students from across Louth go head-to-head at Drumcar last week.

The third annual triathlon saw students from eight schools pushed to their limits for success.

Organised by the Louth Local Sports Partnership in conjunction with An garda Siochana and the Physical Education Association of Ireland.

The students were required to swim 200 metres, cycle ten kilometres and run three kilometres.

The triathlon was a participation based event where students could compete either as an individual or on a group basis.

After a tough day, the following students took the podium places:

Individual female: 1st Aoife Fay, Dundalk Grammar, 2nd Megan Wayte, Dundalk Grammar, 3rd Aoife Gregory, Scóil Uí Mhuirí.

Individual male: 1st Aaron McGuigan, Dundalk Grammar, 2nd Luke Finley, Bush, 3rd Christian Farrelly, St. Mary's College.

The schools taking part were Dun Lughaidgh, Dundalk Grammar School, St. Mary's College, De La Salle, Bush Post Primary, Drogheda Grammar, Our Lady's College and Scoil Uí Mhuirí.
