Shirley gets a huge 30th surprise!

Dundalk After Dark

One party I certainly wasn't going to miss last weekend was the surprise 30th birthday party for Shirley Smith from Armagh Road and there to make sure she had a fantastic time was partner Thomas Quigley from Faughart, kids Jenna-Marie, Kayden and TJ, dad Harry Smith from Beechmount Drive, sisters Lily and Marian Smith both from Lios Dubh, Becky Smith from Channonrock and brother Kevin Smith from Lennon Melia Court and huge collection of children, relations and friends.

I wasn't too long in the door when I caught up with her 'best sister' Lily from Lios Dubh who was with kids Morgan, Thomas, Rhys and Maria Lee who all wanted to wish Shirley a very happy 30th and hoped she had a great night.

They were enjoying the company of sister Marian also from Lios Dubh who was with her main man Daryl O'Hare along with sister Becky from Channonrock and her friend Sharon Kehoe who were looking forward to an epic night with Shirley.

Not too long later I then got a quick word with one of Shirley's oldest friends Michelle McKenny from Armagh Road who was with husband John and she told me that once they all get together it was going to be a mad night for sure.

Next I caught up with her favourite cousin of all time Charlene Rafferty from Lennon Melia Court who was with husband Kevin and kids Kevin Jnr., Charlie and Lily-Mae who were with Shirley's brother William from Greyacre Road and family friend Sharon Kehoe from Dublin Road who assured me the fun was only just getting going and they were all there to make sure the birthday girl had a brilliant time.

Making my way through the crowds I then met father-in-law Eugene Quigley from Faughart who was with daughter Samantha and her kids Abbie and Alicia and his sister Brenda Tynan from Faughart and Abbie's dad Sean Mackin from Newtown who all wanted to wish Shirley all the best on her 30th and told me the party was brilliant.

Heading for another table I then got a word with the man on his best behaviour partner Thomas Quigley who told me they had tricked Shirley into thinking she was only coming out for a meal and when she got there found everyone there ready to welcome her and to party too.

Thomas was sitting with cousin Nigel Tynan from Faughart and Ciaran Shaw from Athboy who was with Emma Tynan from Faughart who was away having a laugh with Tina Martin from Crossmaglen and Noeleen Quigley from Cooley who were all looking very well and were ready to party.

I then headed over for a chat with aunts Anna Smith and Rebecca Archer both from The Holy Lands of Fatima and Rebecca was with husband George and son George Jnr. and cousin Erin McCrory from Coulter Place who tried in vain to tell me it was going to be an extremely quiet celebration.

After this I met up with cousins and nieces Morgan O'Hare from Lios Dubh, Kevin Rafferty from Lennon Melia Court, Megan Kelly from Lios Dubh and Will Smith from Greyacre Road who were going to make the best of Shirley's party no matter what.

After this I met up with Thomas who was having a laugh with Michael Farrell from Faughart, Vinny and Majella Donnelly from Bellurgan, Kevin Rafferty from Lennon Melia Court, cousins John Smith from Greyacre Road and Hamilton Smith from Beechmount Drive, Tom O'Hare from Kilcurry and John McKenny from Armagh Road who all wanted to wish Shirley all the best on her big night.

I have to say that her face when she arrived in and found everyone there, was priceless!
