Collette makes 500!
Collette O'Hagan has become the first women in Ireland to run 500 marathons when she completed the Monaghan Phoenix Marathon Festival at the weekend.
The 68 year old grandmother has competed in marathons around the world and is now second only to David Brady from Raheny who is due to clock up his 700th marathon in Dublin at the end of the month.
In the course of setting this remarkable record, Collette has been an inspiration to others thinking of taking up marathon running as she stresses that she runs to take part and not to win.
The Dundalk woman has taken also raised funds for various charities.
