Tara takes to Tain stage

Audiences are in for a treat this August, when many of the leading singers from the area come together for what could be called a musical gala.

Sisters Aoife and Tara Erraught along with other talents including Niamh McCormack, Ben McAteer, James McCreanor, David Martin plus Nicola and Gavan Ring will take over the stage of An Táin Arts Centre to perform an afternoon of well-known and much-loved arias and songs from the world of opera and operetta.

All former pupils of the now legendary Geraldine McGee, these singers have been recipients of grants from the Geraldine McGee Bursary. To celebrate the bursary's tenth anniversary, a number of singers who benefited have been invited to come back and let those who have supported them over the years have a chance to hear them on home turf.

An Afternoon of Opera and Song is on in An Táin Arts Centre, on Sunday 13 August at 3pm. Tickets are €25, including an interval drink and available from the box office on 9332332 or www.antain.ie or in Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.
