Getting in some training at wall climbing on the trip to Scotland

Seventeen Scouts and their leaders from 1/2/5 Louth Scouts, Castletown Road, Dundalk have just recently returned from their trip to Auchengillan, Scotland.

The camp was the highlight of the scouting calendar and was very much enjoyed by all. Activites included rock climbing, abseiling, parachute drop, quad biking, pioneering canoeing on Loch Lomond, orienteering, mountain biking, skiing on an artificial dry ski slope, crate climbing, grass sleds and their very own highland games.

After three days of good weather....the rain started! But this did not deter the hardy lads from Dundalk who are all weather campers and fit for everything the elements threw at them. Pitching their own tents, constructing their own tables and dressers, working together as patrols, maintaining their independence, cooking for themselves on open fires.

1/2/5 Louth Scouts are now recruiting members for the new scouting year. If you or your son is aged between 8 and 18 then you are eligible to join one of the scouting sections. Just contact the number below.

Also if you were a past member of the unit in the last 50 years please make contact, we want to celebrate the 50th anniversary with you. For an information pack call Gerry Finnegan @ 087 783 9649.
