Nós Nua set for harp festival

Nós Nua, Louth's Youth Folk Orchestra take to the stage at Cairde na Cruite harp festival on Sunday afternoon at 3pm at An Grianán,

The International Festival of Irish Harp runs from Sunday June 30th to Friday 5th July, with harpers from Ireland and all corners of the world gathering at An Grianán ICA, Termonfechin. Alongside a series of workshops for harpers, the very popular public concert series features a roll call of Irish and international leading harpers including Maeve Gilchrist, Cormac De Barra, Siobhán Armstrong, Janet Harbison, Oisín Morrison, Paul Dooley, Séamas Ó Flaithearta, Triona Marshall and many others. Rising harp stars will be showcased at the Festival lunchtime harp series at The Tholsel in Drogheda.

Outdoor theatre event

Charterhouse Theatre Company, who specialise in outdoor theatre, bring Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice to the wonderful Battle of the Boyne estate at Oldbridge, just outside Drogheda on Saturday.

The performance is at 6.30pm and tickets are Adult €18, Child €12 , Family (2 Adults & 2 Children) €49 with 10% discount for parties of 10+. Booking through www.droichead.com

Local acts get funding

Local acts David Keenan and Just Mustard are among the Irish musicians to have been awarded funding by Culture Ireland.

Keenan, who recently supported Snow Patrol at Malahide Castle and is set to accompany Hozier on his European tour, has received a total of €7,000 for a number of European concerts with his band as well as playing at Glastonbury.

Just Mustard were awarded €4,000 to play a number of European dates.
