Music to sooth the spirit in Carlingford Heritage Centre

Dundalk Out & About

Regular RTE and National Concert performers, husband and wife team, soprano Mairead Buicke and pianist, Anthony Byrne have put together a programme of Irish, classical, opera and popular music specially designed to sooth the spirit and take listeners to an enchanted space on Sunday afternoon in the Carlingford Heritage Centre.

Mairead and Tony combine the easy lilt of Percy French and Hamilton Harty with the operetta harmonies of Franz Lehar, the musical emotion of Puccini with the warm romances of Ivor Novello. Their one-hour programme also includes compositions by Tchaikovsky, Debussy and Dvorak and a number of exciting modern piano pieces from contemporary creators, Zez Confrey and Ernesto Lecuona.

The concert, part of the Sundays in Spring Series, gets underway at 4pm.

Other concerts in the series see the famous O'Connor family of traditional musicians get together on April 28, Donegal sisters Maighread and Triona Ni Dhomnail on May 5 and Laoise Kelly and Tiaran O Duinnchinn on May 12.

Tickets €12 (concession €10), can be purchased on line at www.carlingfordheritagecentre.com/ or by e-mail at info@carlingfordheritagecentre.com or by phone 9373454 or 9373888.
