Local musicians get funds for touring
A number of local musicians and bands are among those to benefit from latest round of funding from Culture Ireland for Irish musicians and groups touring abroad.
Dundalk singer/songwriter David Keenan has been awarded funding for three tours this Spring, including €5,000 for a month long tour of the US and Canada,as well as €1,000 for a Portugese tour at the end of this month and €1,000 for a UK tour with dates in Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, London, Birmingham and Leeds, in February.
Zoë Conway and John Mc Intyre have been awarded €3,000 for St Patrick's Day Concert at John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, DC while a presentation of the Music of Oriel at the National Festival, Canberra, Australia, in April, has got €4,000..
Trad band Kern, featuring Barry Kieran, Brendan McCreanor and SJ McArdle have received €4,000 for a tour of US and Canada in February.
