Local dancing stars set for Ireland's Got Talent stage

A trio of talented local dancers are aiming to set the Ireland's Got Talent #IGT stage alight with their hip-hop dance troupe this weekend.

Caitlin Rooney (16) from Knockbridge was joined by pals Lonan Murphy (16) Carrick Road and Nicole Ellis (14), Omeath.

They are all members of the FLY Youth dance group based at studios in Glasnevin, Dublin, where they travel to three times a week to train.

The teens are part of 23 member hip-hop dance production which will make their debut appearance on Ireland's Got Talent this Saturday, March 9th.

'They've out so much work in, training really hard every week,' said Caitlin's mum Debbie.

She added that Caitlin has been dancing since she was four years old, and joined Dundalk dance group Funky Feet where she met dance pal Lonan.

'They actually competed in Los Angeles two years ago with Funky Feet at a world hop-hop competition, where the school took home 11 medals, so they've really had the opportunity to travel,' added Debbie.

Fourteen year old Nicole has also been a keen dancer since she was young, having joined local group Crystal Ice.

'They have all really loved being a part of Fly in Dublin, and are training with Kerrie and Zacc Milne, who performed on Ireland's Got Talent in season one.'

'The kids really love hip-hip, it's a very versatile dance, especially for boys to continue with as they get older.'

All three local teens are also looking forward to a trip to Mexico after they were chosen to dance at an invitational only world championship event in May as part of the Irish team.

'It is the first time an Irish team has ever been invited to this event, so they are really excited about it.'

The local dancing stars will appear on this Saturday's Ireland's Got Talent broadcast on Virgin Media One. Don't forget to tune in!
