Final year art students Eimear Murphy and Eileen O'Sullivan are holding a joint exhibition 'In Search of Place' which opens in The Basement Gallery this Wednesday evening.

The twenty-two year olds are both fine art students at the National College of Art and Design and it was while studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Antwerp on an Erasmus programme that they began working together.

Eimear, who is from Dromiskin, is a past-pupil of St Vincent's Secondary School. 'My teachers, Leanne Mullen and Declan Honan, were very supportive and gave me great help in preparing my portfolio,' she recalls.

Eimear is delighted that they are now exhibiting their work in The Basement Gallery, which she remembers visiting while at school. 'It such an unusual space, with beautiful architecture and great history'

The exhibition deals with a theme of 'Place' and looks at ideas of belonging and questions how places carry traces of humanity.

The exhibition runs until February 14. Admission free.
