Eilish enjoys special 80th birthday party
Family and friends gather in Carnbeg Hotel
On Saturday night I headed for the Carnbeg Hotel where a very special 80th birthday party was taking place for Eilish Mulholland from Willowdale and there to make sure she had a fantastic night were sons Derek and Desmond and a huge collection of family and friends.
I wasn't in the door too long and had problems finding the birthday girl until I was eventually introduced to her, she certainly was looking nothing like she had just joined the octogenarian club, far too young looking, far too young. Anyway, she then told me that Desmond was up from Loughbrickland with wife Eimear and grandson Conor and they were sitting with Derek from Mary Street North and his main squeeze Niamh Maguire from Blackrock who were enjoying the company of Eilish's bother and wife Kevin and Marie Mulholland who had come over from Swindon so they could be part of the celebrations.
Heading for another table I then caught up with another brother Paul and Cepta Carry from Tullyallen who were up for making the best of the festivities with sister and brother-in-law Ann and Joe McQuaid from Newtownbalregan who all wanted to wish Eilish a very happy birthday and were there to make sure she had a lovely night.
Making my way over to another table I then caught up with nephew Alan McQuaid from Dublin Road who was with wife Aon and kids Kian and Brandyn who assured me it was going to be a nice quiet night, but I couldn't see it being like that to be honest!
Not too long later I got a quick word with nephew Alan Carry who was with wife Sarah and kids Ruben, Noah and Eden who wanted to wish Eilish a very happy birthday and hops she had a great night.
Making my way over to another table I then got a quick word with Ciara Brodigan from Monasterboice who told me her mum Linda, whom she was with, is a niece of Eilish's and they were going to have fantastic night with her.
After this I made my way over for a word with niece and goddaughter Yvonne and Barry Jordan from Drogheda with kids Holly and Jasmine who were enjoying a lovely meal along with Eileen and Eoin Keys also from Drogheda and they assured me it was going to much livelier after the nosebag was finished!
After this I got a swift word with nephew Gary and Valerie McQuaid from Inniskeen with kids Colleen, Sean, Anna and Adam who were really enjoying the meal and wanted to wish Eileen a very happy birthday.
Heading for yet another table I then caught up with Eileen's brother Ollie Carry from Tullyallen who was in great form and was having a lovely night along with Alan and Sarah and the kids, he also wanted to wish Eileen a very happy 80th too.
Finally, before I departed, I caught up with niece Wendy and Sean Lynch who were enjoying the festivities with nephew Aidan and Mary Carry all from Drogheda who wee looking forward to a lovely night with their favourite aunty.
