Dundalk musicians Athboy bound

Dundalk will be well represented at Fleadh Laighean 2019 which is taking place from July 8 to 14 in Athboy and the Gaeltacht area of Ráth Chairn, Co Meath.

The Leinster Fleadh is a week- long Provincial event which will eventually lead winning competitors to the finals at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in Drogheda in August.  Competitors will come from the twelve counties of Leinster to compete in competitions that include all traditional Irish instruments, singing, dancing and Comhrá.

While the Fleadh is mainly a competitive event it also includes many social and educational outings in the form of concerts, sessions, workshops, coffee mornings, historical tours - ensuring that there is something for everyone.

The programme of events includes open air concerts featuring well known acts and a host of local musicians and Comhaltas groups. Dervish, John Spillane and The Raw Bar Collective are among the headline acts, while upcoming young groups such as Dó Fadó, Ar Meisce, Deirdre & Eamonn Óg Ó Donnchadha, Brendan Rowan and friends and many more. There will be traditional music in all the local bars of Athboy and Ráth Chairn.
