Comhaltas Seisiun at Old Gaol

The Oriel Centre 'Summer Show 2017' show got under way on Thursday July 13 with traditional music and entertainment for all the family.

Seisiún is a staged performance of authentic Irish traditional culture, which provides a unique experience for holidaymakers and all lovers of traditional music during the months of July and August each summer.

Local performers including musicians, singers, dancers and story tellers take to the stage in the atmospheric setting of the Oriel Centre for a night of quality entertainment.

Many of the young musicians are competing in the Leinster Fleadh in Longford this week, and are hoping to qualify for the All Ireland.

Th show is followed by light refreshments, giving the audience an opportunity to have a chat.

The night then concludes with an informal traditional session where the visitors are encouraged to participate if they so wish. They can take part in some simple Irish dances such as Siege of Ennis, Walls of Limerick, or sing a song or two.

The show starts at 8pm each evening. Admission €12, concessions for OAPs and students €10, including refreshments.

The 'Summer Show 2017' will take place on Thursdays July 20 and 27, August 3, 10 and 24. and 31.
