Candides launch debut album in Spirit Store

Easily one of the big gigs of the weekend takes place in the Spirit Store on Thursday night when the Candides launch their debut single ‘Highlights’ and will be performing with a full band.

The dynamic duo of Fergal Heeney and Jessica DeKorte will bring their excellent single to an unsuspecting audience for what promises to be a cracking night of music.

The duo will be performing with a full band and will play mostly from their debut album which should see the light of day in the very near future.

With Heeney citing Chopin, Arvo Part, Beatles, Morrison, Buckley, Wainwright and Ros as influences on his songwriting and DeKorte’s transition from concert violinist to the Irish trad session scene, you can look forward to a very diverse but enlightened night of music.

The support slot will be taken by Eugene O’Hanlon and Lisa Hake and not Stewart Agnew as was mentioned last week. Friday brings a visit from Giveamanakick who will be performing from their recently released 3rd album ‘Welcome to the Cusp’.

Support will be taken by Podracer who got going three years ago and feature members Alan Anderson, Paul McCallion and Chris Fogarty who have a penchant for power punk songs. Their four-track E.P.

‘Armed With Hammers and a Handgun’ was recorded in the Spirit Store and Tumbleweed Studios and they will definitely have no problem setting the tone for the evening.

It’s a special night on Saturday when Dundalk Outcomers host a party night and featured artist on the night is Joanna Ryder and friends.

Sunday brings a return visit from Rory Gallagher, no not a tributeer, but one third of the now defunct Revs. Rory is here with his brand new solo album ‘God Bless The Big Bang’.
