The National Football League returned with a bang at the weekend and the Throw-In podcast is also back with its weekly breakdown of the big games and major talking points.

On this week’s show, Dick Clerkin joined Will Slattery and Michael Verney to discuss Mayo and Galway’s scintillating draw, Donegal edging out Kerry, Roscommon toppling Tyrone and Armagh’s victory over Monaghan.

Plus, in Division 2, Meath under new manager Colm O’Rourke, beat Cork down on Leeside, while Dublin saw off Kildare as they seek an immediate return to Division 1.

The hurling leagues start next weekend and Vincent Hogan joined Will and Michael to give his thoughts on how the counties will fare, especially those five with new managers at the helm.

Can Davy Fitz fix Waterford and bring them back? How long before Liam Cahill’s Tipperary can show some promise again? And can anyone stop Limerick’s four-in-a-row?

Join the Throw-In every Monday for all your weekend GAA reaction and analysis from the Irish Independent sports team.
