Yvonne Hogan: 'We can deal with overflowing toilets, lack of food and endless delays but Irish Rail's biggest sin was not telling us what was going on'

It wasn't the fact that the train was delayed, or even the fact that none of the toilets were operational, that annoyed people. It wasn't even the fact that the 'free' food and water ran out before everyone got fed. It was the absolutely abysmal communication that riled the passengers on the 5pm Dublin Cork train on Wednesday.

The Irish Rail representative on board continued to announce that the delays were due to a 'signal fault' long after the company's social media had announced the fate of the poor old cow. The twitter operator gave passengers vague and misleading information.
