Justice Minister Helen McEntee wants to usher in a new era in gender relations in Ireland. To do so, she has announced an ambitious new national strategy to tackle domestic, sexual and gender-based violence.

The name of the new programme, Zero Tolerance, carries a flush of reformist zeal. It conveys a clear resolve to leave at least some of the injustices and cruelties of the past in the past, once and for all.
